Ambience has a combined hair, nail and beauty salon in Sydenham with laser hair removal technologies from Polaris. This is a non-invasive treatment that is highly effective in controlling and reducing hair growth in unwelcome areas. Shaving and waxing, or treatments such as chemical removal and electrolysis, have limitations and do not prove to be as near as effective as the systems we use here at Ambience.
You can contact us today to make bookings or pay a personal visit to our premises where the very warmest of welcomes always awaits you.
Polaris laser hair removal is proven to be effective for providing a more permanent result than any other treatments in our market and it should not be confused with IPL technologies. Prior to appointments, a consultation and patch test will be required at a cost of £30.00.
This fee is refundable from the price of your first treatment.
Polaris is a high-specification laser hair removal brand, of medical grade, that is safer for all skin types including those of our Asian and Afro-Caribbean clientele. This system can achieve the permanent reduction of hair with no harmful side-effects. A laser can directly target concentrations of melanin in your hair follicles, but without it causing damage to the follicle itself or the surrounding tissues.
Other lasers tend to have shorter wavelengths and target melanin in the hair and the skin, making them unsuitable for dark skin tones.
Your hair grows in three different stages:
Laser hair removal only works in the anagen (active growth) stage.
The hair’s melanin absorbs laser energy. The energy travels down the hair’s shaft to cause deliberate thermal damage to the follicle and this impedes growth. While a shaft will often remain in the follicle after treatment, it should still fall out, safely, by the 21st day
This can sometimes take longer depending on individual hair growth.
Clients in Sydenham and the surrounding Beckenham, Dulwich and South East London areas should book in for further laser hair removal when growth reaches the anagen stage again, but this is to treat new hair and not the old hair. A noticeable difference in the density of new growth will be visible after two to three treatments at our salon.
Light hair on dark skin requires more energy for us to achieve great results, and side-effects can be more prevalent in this situation.
Subsequent treatments are more effective for dark hair on light skin and research has shown that wavelengths of 1064nm will pass through a client’s skin safely to target melanin in the follicles without a risk of damage to surrounding tissue. Laser hair removal won’t work on grey, white or very blonde hairs because these have less melanin.
